The WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) Spirits courses offer globally recognised training in spirit production, styles, tasting, and service. Designed for both industry professionals and enthusiasts, these courses build essential knowledge and confidence when working with or promoting spirits. For DSA members, WSET training supports professional development, deepens product understanding, and strengthens customer engagement—helping elevate New Zealand's spirits sector on the world stage. Level 1: A beginner-level course covering the basics of spirit production, key spirit styles, and simple tasting techniques—ideal for those new to the industry or spirits in general. Level 2: An intermediate course that explores the major spirit categories in depth, including production methods, labelling, and flavour profiles, along with guided tastings. Level 3: An advanced qualification offering a detailed understanding of spirit production, maturation, and quality factors, with rigorous tastings and analysis of a wide range of spirits.
